Asian Leopard Hybrids a.k.a. Bengal
Cats, are a cross between the Asian Leopard Cat (Felis Bengalensis)
and the domestic house-cat. After four generations of Bengal to Bengal
breeding's, the kittens make loving pets, use the litter box and get
along well with other cats & dogs.
They strongly resemble their Asian
Leopard Cat ancestors.
Bengals have a soft, luxurious fur,
it's actually pelted, like the fur of wild cats. They also have a love
for water, and enjoy playing in it.
Adult Bengal males weigh 15-25lbs.,
and are considered to be one of the larger breeds of domestic cats.
Bengals come in a few different
colors and two patterns, leopard-spotted and marbled.
Spotted:
My spotted Bengals have large dark striking spots or rosettes on a lighter
background color of brown gold, blonde, orange or mahogany.
Marbled: The classic tabby gene
created the marbled Bengal and changed the spots to swirls or marbling.
Snow:
The Siamese gene created the snow Bengal and made them white with gray
spots and blue eyes.
Snow-Marbled:
The Snow and Marbled were combined to make a Grey Marbled with blue
eyes.
Black
a.k.a. Melanistic: The Asian Leopard cats carry for and
come in black. Bengals come from the Asian Leopard Cat, so breeders
sometimes produce 'Black' a.k.a. 'Mealanistic Bengal Cats'.
However, many breeders don't like to admit they produce black bengals
because they produce more black kittens and are not eligible for competition.
All of my kittens are from my Grand
Champion male "GOVERNOR". Governor came from three
of the top Bengal catteries and has made several Supreme Grand Champions
for those catteries. Call or e-mail me if you would like to know who
those catteries are.
Governor is an "ink-black
spotted cat", which produces all ink-black spotted kittens on an
orange, gold or blonde background.
The price of the kitten depends
upon the quality. Those with the most vivid markings and brightest color
are the most desirable and the most expensive. Some kittens sold as
pet or show will be altered before leaving.
Pet: $300-$800
Breeder: $1,000-$1,500
Show: free when you buy a show quality pet or breeder.
Please call or email for available kittens.
Many people would like to own a
wild cat but can't because of the permit requirements, special housing,
and diet.
Please check the laws in your state,
county and city before you consider buying a Bengal cat. So far, Bengal
cats are legal in all states except for Georgia and Connecticut. These
states have regulations against owning any wild or hybrid cat.
These cats require no special permits
or caging requirements.
